WISH | TRAVEL

From mid-June, I'll luckily be jetting off for 3 months to discover Dubai, Australia, Fiji and Thailand. So inevitably, I've been dreaming of all the bikinis and sun dresses to join me on my journey.
Just like those occasions when you fill up your virtual shopping basket in hopes that everything in there will miraculously arrive on your doorstep without clicking the dreaded 'checkout' button; maybe creating a holiday wishlist will help to satisfy the crazy shopping addict side of me... maybe.

The on-going battle between amazing cut-out swimsuits and not having crazy tan lines continues... It seems as though all of my favourite swimwear pieces out there at the moment come hand-in-hand with random cut-out shapes or the harness/bondage style. This Motel Rocks swimsuit and NastyGal bikini top are no exceptions. Maybe I can live with a stripey tan.
The bohemian/ uber-chilled vibes are my latest and greatest obsession right now and For Love and Lemons are ticking all the boxes. I'm utterly in love with every single piece on their website; the red 'Sangria' dress taking place as my number one. ** insert heart eyes emoji here **

I'll be looking out for that miraculous shopping bag parcel, Mr postman...

OUTFIT | AU NATUREL

crop top - river island | long cardigan - river island | trousers - missguided | tote bag - urban outfitters | shoes - new look | necklace - mango

With a mix of textures, from patent to ribbed to leather, the minimalist vibe is my number one currently and what's more minimalist than the 'au naturel' colour scheme?

Being more of a skinny jeans or skirt kinda girl, these Missguided trousers are a little bit on the daring side for me, yet I'm utterly in love with them! To flaunt the minimalistic theme of the look, I styled the trousers with other shades of grey, a black maxi cardigan and delicate copper toned jewellery.

As the saying goes; less is more.

TREND | GREY

Teamed with monochrome classics, featuring as a one-off piece, or worn in it's entirety head-to-toe; grey is THE colour of the moment.
Whichever way you approach the trend, the neutral shade is currently the epitome of effortless chic (alongside the classics black, white and nude, of course). It's even becoming big in the hair game too!
Single-colour ensembles, especially basics like grey and monochrome, require a mix of textures and tones to save it from looking bland and boring. Mixing silky delicate fabrics with rougher textures like wool or tweed will take it from lifeless to luxe.

Oversized with a small hint of pale blue denim and delicate silver jewellery is my personal favourite way of wearing the colour... just need to get my hands on this Topshop oversized coat of dreams.
Let's hope the trend doesn't die out before the summer arrives. Praying we're blessed with a flood of grey bikinis and shades!

OUTFIT | BOHO

dress - motel rocks via asos | thigh high boots - public desire | bag - urban outfitters

As you can probably tell, there isn't particularly a single style or look that defines me or that I tend to stick to. My style often varies from girly to androgynous, minimalist to maximalist, and as in my most recent posts; sporty to bohemian.
However, in spite of this, my love for all things seventies and boho has recently been spiraling into more of an obsession, and I'm 99% sure that these suede thigh high boots were the catalyst.

OUTFIT | TEAL

bomber jacket - zara | top - h&m | jeans - river island | boots - topshop | neckalce - dixi | earrings - topshop

Black, white, grey, navy, blah, blah, blah... all the basic colours tend to overwhelm the majority of my wardrobe in winter, but now I'm putting my faith into this teal statement bomber to inject a dash of vibrancy without exposing my eagerness for spring too much.
I'm not one to go for sporty silhouettes but this can be my exception. I completely fell in love with the bright print catching my eye as I was leaving Zara, bags full of purchases already in hand. The heavy crepe texture and silver zip tilts it further into the luxe end of the sport-luxe spectrum.
Keeping up with the sport-luxe aesthetic, I teamed the jacket with a mesh/chiffon top, silver jewelery and my new favourite chunky lace-up boots.

I know it's only January but... bring on jacket weather!

OUTFIT | HALLOWEEN

My dream of being a mermaid finally became a reality... kinda... for a night anyway...

Clam bra, glitter, sequins and all! My mermaid career goals clearly had a big influence on my Halloween fancy dress this year while my flat mate, Katie, went for the dead gothic bride look in head-to-toe black.

It's been a while since I've published an outfit on here, which is down to the horrifyingly green walls I was greeted with when moving into my new flat at uni. Luckily though, the colour's quite fitting for this one.

p.s. katie's recently began her own blog katiegreenwood.blogspot.co.uk, so go give her a follow for fashion, design and lifestyle related posts!

OUTFIT | MINIMALIST

jumper - zara | jeans - asos | boots - topshop | clutch - river island | scrunchie - urban outfitters

A total staple piece for Fall: the chunky knit jumper. This one from Zara is so perfect as it goes with basically everything for those early mornings when you're too cold and tired to find the brain power for putting together a super snazzy outfit. Or for those smart/casual evenings, just add a colourful clutch and some heeled boots and you're good to go.

TREND | 70'S COMEBACK

We've seen most of the 20th century eras make a comeback in the fashion world, most recently being the 1990's with ripped boyfriend jeans, chokers and scrunchies. Yet, although the 70's have subtly made an appearance here and there, the era hasn't quite had its time to shine... until now.
This Autumn/Winter, we'll be seeing a whole host bohemian/hippie vibes and their muted earthy tones making their way onto the high street.

Crochet, turtleneck and floppy hat looks have already been endlessly sported this Spring/Summer in festival fashion but don't go shoving them away for next summer just yet. Turtle neck crops to jumpers, palazzo trousers to bell-bottoms and crochet bralets to ponchos. For once, festival and Winter fashion has merged.

WARDROBE ESSENTIALS | THE AUTUMN EDIT

Just as we were all enjoying a surprisingly warm Britain, the chilly weather decides to show up early and ruin all the fun... I guess that means it's time to get our autumn on!
So, to be prepared for whatever the weather throws at us next, here are my Autumn wardrobe essentials.

thin knit jumper - zara | thick knit jumper  - zara | trench coat - asos | black leather biker jacket - mango | faux leather skirt - asos | basic a-line skirt - asos
oversized white shirt or blouse - h&m | plaid shirt - new look men's | black leather boots - topshop
coloured biker jacket - miss selfridge (nude) h&m (burgundy) | basic tees - asos (grey) topman (white) primark men's (black)

The transition from Summer to Autumn... an annoyance or the perfect excuse to go shopping? I think I'll go with the latter.

RED CARPET | MTV VMA'S & EMMY AWARDS 2014

With the MTV VMA's and the Emmy awards being only two days apart, I've combined both into a single post to showcase my absolute favourite red carpet looks of the evenings.

MTV VMA's

From Chloe Moretz' grown-up look in pale pink trousers and long sleeved embroidered top, to Rita Ora looking so Hollywood glamour in a long red satin gown, the MTV red carpet certainly lived up to its reputation of bringing out an eclectic mix of looks from the celebs.

Kim Kardashian - Balmain | Julianne Hough - Pucci | Nicki Minaj - Yves Saint Laurent
Nina Dobrev - Zuhair Murad | Miley Cyrus - Alexandre Vauthier Couture | Rita Ora - Donna Karan

Emmy Awards

Once again, out come the stunning over-the-top couture gowns and perfected hair and make-up that makes us all wish we were up there with the A-listers. This year's Emmy Awards definitely did not disappoint with lashings of glitz and glamour. Red, white and metallics seemed to be the go-to colours for the stars, sported by the likes of January Jones, Sofia Vergara and Taylor Schilling.

Sofia Vergara - Cavalli | Melissa McCarthy - Marchesa | Kiernan Shipka - Antonio Berardi
Julie Bowen - Peter Som | Taylor Schilling - Zuhair Murad | Kerry Washington - Prada

GUEST POST | FAWN CLOTHING*

Newly launched, Fawnclothing.com is an online UK based fashion boutique. Our motto is: "Fierce high fashion. Fantasy prices." Simple.

After discovering a lack of clothing lines offering luxe (definition: expensive and of high quality) clothing but at affordable price points, we decided to take matters into our own hands. What better idea than to create a line fulfilling exactly those needs, to benefit fashionista's the world over? And so Fawn's conception began in early 2014...
